" In 1996, Lee Kuan Yew said “There’s a glorious rainbow that beckons those with the spirit of adventure. To the young and to the not so old, I say, look at that horizon, follow that rainbow, go ride it.” When young people like myself look out into the horizon today, we don’t see the rainbow he spoke of. We feel a sense of hopelessness regarding our future and tend to look abroad for better work life balance, and job prospects.

  • July 4
  • At a doorstop interview with media
" There are many issues that we can discuss in the election. But the core issue has to be this: How do we get through Covid as a country? How do we survive as a country? How do we take care of each other through all this?

  • July 1
  • The Political Debate
" You know Dr. [Jamus] Lim, I've read your manifesto, and actually to be honest with you, we could have written the same manifesto. And that's why people have called the Workers' Party PAP-lite, or PAP-like. Whatever line or stand PAP has taken, you basically use that as your reference point, and take a half step to the left.

  • In response to Heng Swee Keat in East Coast GRC
" I'd say we take their challenge equally seriously and that's why we've put a strong slate of candidates in East Coast.

Hottest news and juiciest updates on GE2020

Voting 101

Everything you need to know about GE2020

01

Before Nomination Day

Time to read up on issues that you find pertinent, or that voters might find pertinent. Some last-minute revising for voters and candidates alike.

02

Nomination Day

The beginning of a storied political career for some, the end of S$13,500 for others.

03

Campaign Period

You remember the bustling rallies? The increased walkabouts where you can catch a glimpse of your MP, the dynamic jousting between the incumbent and the opposition? Now it’s all online. Yay.

04

Polling Day

Vote for who is closest to your heart, while keeping your distance at the same time.

05

After Polling Day

Go sleep.

If you’re 21 and older, and Singaporean, chances are you can vote. Check whether you are on the register to vote here.

First, find out where you’ll be voting. If your constituency or electoral division is contested, a poll card will be mailed to your residential address. The poll card will let you know which polling station to go to. If you do not receive your poll card before Polling Day, you can request one at this link.

The first two points have covered the technical aspects of voting. You should be good to go, but if you want to be a slightly more informed voter, why not follow the election developments on our site? You should also probably figure out who you will be voting for before stepping into the polling booths.

If you are issued a Quarantine Order, you cannot vote in the election. Going outside to vote will be treated as an offence. Instead, you will be treated as having a valid reason not to vote, and you won’t incur a penalty.

If you are serving SHN at a designated facility, you will be allowed to vote at a special polling station.

If you are serving SHN at home or have been given a 5-day MC for respiratory symptoms, you may be allowed to vote if you’re following instructions from the Returning Officer. The Elections Department will issue guidelines for such voters.
